Follow The Dream

Follow the Dream (FTD) is an Aspirant Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The program provides after-school tuition, individualised mentoring, and case management to assist and support these students through school, complete Year 12 and achieve a successful transition into university, training or meaningful post- school employment. Follow the Dream was established at Dianella Secondary College in 2018 and takes place two afternoons per week in the dedicated Follow the Dream space in the library. We utilise two additional learning areas next to the Follow the Dream room where tutors provide academic support to students after school. In the learning areas, students have access to laptops, subject specific textbooks and a range of other learning materials.

  • Monitoring of student progress and providing intensive assistance for students who require it.
  • Mentoring and pathway planning with the Follow the Dream Coordinator.
  • Opportunities to attend careers excursions, workplace visits, after school activities, mentoring visits and University programs/camps.
  • Students are encouraged to enhance their sense of identity through improving on their cultural kaartdijin (knowledge). Opportunities are provided through various incursions, excursions and camps.
  • The establishment of links between family, the community, and schools.
