Year 12 Hospitality students got to practice their Master Chef skills on Friday 23rd February when Hospitality Group Training brought in a chef to demonstrate to the class. Chef Ashleigh prepared poached salmon with rhubarb, peas and crème Fraiche. Students then prepared and plated their own meals.
The demonstration gave students the opportunity to ask lots of questions and find out what it is like to work in the hospitality industry.
Year 12 students are currently completing the unit ‘Prepare and Serve Non-Alcoholic Beverages.’ An important part of the unit involves students preparing and selling drinks to staff. This term they have already sold iced chocolates, iced coffees and frappes to staff on Friday afternoons, with very good feedback from their customers. In the coming weeks, they will be preparing and selling fruit smoothies.
