In Term One, 19 Year 10 students completed their Certificate I in Financial Services. The aim of the course was to give students the opportunity to learn to manage their money more effectively, a skill needed for those who have a part-time job or for when they enter the workforce in the future.
They covered topics such as banking, super, budgeting, taxation, insurance, loans, investments and mortgages, levels of government, credit debt and scams. The course was funded by The Smith Family who also provided the tutor for the two days. “This was a great opportunity for students to learn some skills for life” – Mrs Anne Wilson, Head of Mathematics Learning Area.
