Congratulations to our Year 8 Science Team on advancing to the grand final of the Synergy Schools Solar Challenge. Daniya, Monika, Sara, and John were required to build a Kite Magic Solar Car and race it along a 20m track.
The team faced other schools such as Carmel School, Servite College, Shenton College and St Andrews Grammar School. They used STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) principles and Problem Based Learning to build the car and ensure it was competitive throughout the semi-finals. The skills they have learnt through this project are essential for their future learning and potential career opportunities. Unfortunately, they had to use batteries instead of solar power due to the rainy weather. The team will be competing in the grand final at Kings Park on Wednesday 5 April 2017 against the other schools from around Western Australia. We wish them the best of luck! Comments are closed.
